How to warm up your home with floor tiles

Posted on 14 November 2016

As the rain thrashes against the window and the winter chill sets in, create a warm and cosy feel in your home with floor tiles. If you want the beauty and practicality of stone or ceramic floor tiles, then you can ramp up the warmth factor by installing tiles in dark, warmer shades.

Lighter, paler floor tiles tend to make a room feel brighter, bouncing light into all those shady corners, but by adding darker toned tiles, which will absorb more light, you will make the space feel more cosy and intimate. All you need do then is spark up the wood burner, layer up with sumptuous textures, blankets and throws, and you’ve got the makings of a cosy haven.

Dark and rugged

Take a look at our Edenbridge Tumbled Limestone tiles. These natural and rugged limestone tiles are a timeless choice and they play a big part in creating a warm scheme and an ambient mood.

Warming tones

Even the largest, coldest space can feel warm and inviting with the help of our Wicklow Tumbled Limestone. This lovely limestone with its warming tones and subtle fossil markings will certainly upgrade your living space, especially a large open-plan area where the full effect can be really appreciated. Smart, sophisticated and the perfect canvas for any style of décor, these tiles will make a beautiful addition to any home.

Mottled grey

The Petra Solis Mirum Porcelain is another floor tile with warmth and character. Its mottled grey tones are dark enough to add warmth but not so dark as to feel gloomy. This tile works with any style home, from a modern maisonette to a traditional townhouse.

Wood effect

Our Assi D'Alpe - Maso wood-effect porcelain tile has the appearance of beautiful dark oak. This stunning floor tile might look as though it belongs in a Jacobean mansion with roaring log fires and dozing dogs, but it adds immediate warmth to any decor.

Just add soft furnishing and rich textures

Texture adds depth and warmth to your décor so introduce plenty of plush fabrics and furnishings to soften the look and create an ambient space that will envelop you in a warm, welcoming hug and see you through many cold winters to come.
